Author Biography
Claire Sponsler (claire-sponsler@uiowa.edu) is professor of English at the University of Iowa, where she teaches medieval literature with a focus on performance studies and cultural history. She has published on drama and gender, the relationship of archival evidence to performance practices, and cross-cultural theatre, among other topics. Her recent books include Ritual Imports: Performing Medieval Drama in America (2005) and John Lydgate: Mummings and Entertainments, a critical edition (2010).
