Author Biography

Paul Yachnin is Tomlinson Professor of Shakespeare Studies at McGill University. His first book is Stage-Wrights: Shakespeare, Jonson, Middleton, and the Making of Theatrical Value (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1997); his second, co-authored with Anthony Dawson, is The Culture of Playgoing in Shakespeare's England: A Collaborative Debate (Cambridge, 2001). He is an editor of the forthcoming Oxford edition of The Works of Thomas Middleton and is editing Shakespeare's Richard II, also for Oxford. His book-in progress is Shakespeare and the Dimension of Literature, which will argue that literature's political consequentiality is an effect of the long- rather than the short-term.
