Jacqueline Pearson, professor of English literature at University of Manchester, has published widely on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century women writers, including Aphra Behn, Frances Burney, Susanna Centlivre, and Maria Edgeworth. She is the author of The Prostituted Muse: Images of Women and Women Dramatists 1643-1737 (1988) and Women's Reading in Britain 1750-1834: A Dangerous Recreation (1999).
